NEWLY promoted Torris-holme continued their good start to the season with a comfortable win over lacklustre South Shore.
The fiery opening bowling pair of Jordan and Gould took some time to adjust their radars after two early wickets - but the game turned on a breathtaking piece of fielding from Batty.
Noticing that a South Shore batsman was slow to get back in his crease, Batty threw the wickets down from 40 yards for a remarkable run out.
After this, Osmotherley (3 for 19) and the league's top wicket taker, Jordan (5 for 25), began to turn the screw and the South Shore innings ground to a halt on 81.
In reply, Osmotherley fell to a rash shot coming down the wicket but Gould looked a class act as he posted 30.
It was left to a rejuvenated Cottam (24) to take Torrisholme to the verge of victory before Woods smashed the winning runs on 85 for 4.
Torrisholme now stand second in the Palace Shield A division and are beginning to look like coming close to major honours.
