Captain of Appleby FC U16s David Drummond and coach Brian Little, who is retiring from the position at the end of the season, hold the Westmorland FA Minor Cup and celebrate with their winning team.
APPLEBY under 16s have won the Westmorland FA Minor Cup for the first time.
Playing at Parkside Road, Kendal, against Keswick, Appleby went a goal down in the very first minute. Fortunately, Keswick's lead lasted only two minutes as Stephen Davies slotted home from close range. Appleby then took the lead from a corner as Josh Halls cross was headed in at the far post by Mark Ousby. Tony Johnson then made it 3-1 when he headed in a long free kick.
Before half-time Johnson again put the ball in the net, this time picking up a through ball from Robinson to round the keeper and score, making it 4-1 at half-time and with no further goals Appleby have at last got their name on the trophy.
