A GROUP of walkers became lost on Crinkle Craggs, Great Langdale yesterday evening.
The group of 10 fell walkers – which included an 11-year-old child and a 69-year-old pensioner - split up at Great Knott.
Half of the group continued on their walk but at 6.30pm, Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team were called to assist the five remaining walkers who had not returned to their car.
A search was organised with assistance from Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team, Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team and the Search and Rescue Dog Association.
The search was called off when two members of the group called to confirm that they had found shelter in a tent in Lingcove Bank while the remaining three had found their way to a farm atBrotherilkeld.
LAMRT left the campers to make their way down the fell today.
