A PILOT scheme preventing motorists from turning right at a Windermere junction has been made permanent after it was deemed a success.
Drivers have been unable to turn right at the junction of Victoria Street and Elleray Road for six months as a solution was sought to replace a congestion-causing mini roundabout.
Members of Cumbria County Council’s Local Area Committee for South Lakeland agreed to make the junction a no-right-turn permanently after observing there had been no collisions and traffic congestion had eased since the pilot began.
It is estimated the scheme will cost £12,000.
