A LEADING charity has been urged to consult over proposals to close its Furness centre which helps victims of child and domestic abuse.
Furness MP John Hutton wants the charity to talk with partners involved in delivering the SAFE domestic abuse service and supporting the NSPCC Centre in Barrow, both of which are threatened with closure, before making a decision.
Mr Hutton said: “There are many skilled and dedicated individuals involved who I am certain could have a positive contribution to make in identifying constructive and workable solutions to difficulties that may be being faced if they are provided with an opportunity to so.
“I very much hope the earliest possible opportunity will be taken to establish a genuine consultation process with a view to maximising potential partnership arrangements in order to secure the continued delivery of services that are of such value and importance to my constituents.”
