NORTH Lancashire and Craven householders should prepare for the first stage of the digital switchover next month.

The Granada region will begin receiving digital television on November 4.

Viewers will need to retune their television sets to allow the switchover to take place successfully.

The switchover will be completed on December 2 as the last analogue television broadcasts will cease from the Winter Hill transmitter.

Jo Waters is Digital UK's Granada region manager said: “Switchover is now less than a month away. If your TV can only receive four or five channels, now is the time to make sure you have the right equipment for when the first analogue signals are turned off on 4 November.”

Meanwhile in South Lakeland, Digital UK are urging Border viewers to retune their sets on November 10 during engineering works.

Services in Kendal, Coniston, Crosthwaite, Grasmere, Hawkshead, Kendal Fell, Millthrop, Sedbergh and Windermere will be off air for a number of hours in the early morning.

The signal is expected to restart around mid morning and lunchtime.
