A TRIO of walkers had to be guided down from the fells by mountain rescuers when they were caught by nightfall.
Two men and a 13-year-old boy had made a navigational error while walking at Three Tarns, Great Langdale, which had taken them into the Upper Esk area.
As daylight faded and the group did not have torches, Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team went to assist them shortly before 7pm yesterday.
Team search dogs Kitt and Beinn accompanied LAMRT members and Kitt claimed her first ‘locate’.
The group was escorted back to their car.
