SIGNAGE warning walkers and tourists about the dangers of the treacherous Morecambe Bay tide look set to be installed at Silverdale.
Earlier this month Silverdale Parish Councillor Tony Houghton called for a siren in the north Lancashire coastal village to warn walkers of the chanels and fast flowing waters.
But his plea was rejected by Lancaster City Council, which said the siren could confuse walkers and make the area even more dangerous.
Now the city council plans to install warning signage at several locations across the village.
They will be located at Shore Road by cattle grid, by the gate on Cove Lane and by the cattle grid at Jenny Brown’s Point.
There are also plans for signage on the railway bridge, on the track running from Pool Bridge, near the stile on Jack Scout Scar, at entrance to Cow’s Mouth and potentially near Holgates Caravan Park.
The signs will be installed once planning permission is granted.
