GRANGE Town Council has backed the option of a countywide unitary authority in this autumn's referendum on the way Cumbria and Lancashire will be run in the future.
Councillors voted to back a Cumbria-wide tier of government to replace district and county councils. An alternative proposal would link Barrow, South Lakeland and Lancaster.
Former mayor Coun Aiden Smith said he thought the countywide scheme would benefit the people of Grange more than one that included Lancaster.
