AN UNEXPECTED government grant is to be used to create a Lake District National Park Authority website highlighting the issues and opportunities surrounding Windermere.
The new website will be separate from the authority's main site - www.lake-district.gov.uk - and is the first time the authority has devoted a site to a single topic.
The site will be operational by late spring and will include weather forecasts for lake users, a what's on guide and transport timetables.
Online media adviser Helen Reynolds said: "I'm confident that people will visit the virtual version of the lake as often as they visit the lake itself."
