n SIR, Many people are opposed to the proposal of a supermarket in Grange-over-Sands.
Something as modern as a Booths store would shadow the authenticity of the town, and many traders feel it would become a threat.
I have expressed my feelings in poetic form as I feel that the town is a poem in itself: Hundreds of people packed into the hall Opposing the plans that could govern us all So many protested, discussed and appealed Tried hard to succeed before all's signed and sealed The last thing most want is a monstrous Booths' In an old English godsend that nurtures and soothes A blot on the landscape' that's destined to change Our sweet, our authentic, Edwardian Grange.
Helen Western Lindale, Grange-over-Sands
