THE railway town of Carnforth lost two sons in Sunday's tragedy. Darren Burgess, 30, and Colin Buckley, 49, both lost their lives at the hands of the runaway train.
Carnforth mayor, Sheila McNulty, said: "It is a terrible tragedy. What happened was horrendous and came as a very big shock.
"Our condolences go out to all the families. They will be in so much shock. They went out out to work and never came home. I have never known Carnforth to go through such a bad period. It is very sad for Carnforth. All we can do is keep them in our thoughts and say a few prayers for them." Coun McNulty, who lived near Mr Buckley, said: "He was a grand chap. He lived on his own and had a brother and sisters. They were all brought up in that house then Colin took it on, and kept it beautiful. Colin was a very private person but would help anyone."
