DEMONSTRATIONS of the traditional Westmorland skill of hedge-laying can be enjoyed later this month.
The Friends of the Lake District are staging the annual event at Gilpin Bridge just off the A590 between 10am and 3.30pm on February 21.
The organisation has been behind the events for two decades and it is part of a regional grand prix of competitions also run in Lancashire.
Chairman David Birkett said professionals and amateurs would be taking part in the competition.
He said: "These sorts of skills have defined the character of the landscape of the Lake District and Cumbria, which has been appreciated by so many people over the years.
"By working together with local farmers and landowners, we want to promote these crafts, which also contribute to the local economy."
Spectators are welcome to watch, while entrants are invited on the day for the competition, although they must have some hedge-laying experience.
