THE husband of 'Lady in the Lake' Carol Park has made a ten-minute court appearance charged with her murder in July 1976.

The mother of two's body was found at the bottom of Coniston Water in August 1997, 21 years after her disappearance.

Gordon Park, 59, a retired schoolteacher from Barrow-in-Furness, had his bail renewed when he appeared at Preston Crown Court on Wednesday.

The conditions include a £20,000 surety, the surrender of his passport, and a requirement that he reports twice weekly to police.

Mr Park must also live at an address in Stockton-on-Tees.

The hearing was adjourned by Judge Peter Openshaw QC until April 26 when Mr Park will enter his plea to the charge. It will also give the prosecution time to serve papers on the defence.

Mrs Park's body was discovered by amateur divers.
