Down With Love (15) Rating: 4/5Ewan McGregor and Renee Zellweger go head-to-head in this engaging romantic comedy that focuses on the perennial battle of the sexes.Zellweger plays feminist author Barbara Novak who becomes an overnight sensation thanks to her best-selling book, which advises women to stop falling in love. McGregor is hotshot journalist and playboy Catcher Block who, intent on exposing Novak as a phoney, goes undercover in a bid to make her fall head over heels for him.But will his callous campaign lead to the scoop of the century or simply blow up in his face? Comic complications ensue when Block's neurotic boss (David Hyde Pierce) and Novak's editor, played by Sarah Paulson, get caught up in the romantic trickery.Heavily stylised and gorgeous to look at not least because of the lovely Zellweger Down With Love is a witty throwback to the romantic comedies of the Sixties starring Rock Hudson and Doris Day and is great escapist entertainment. Director Peyton Reed emphasises the lush feel of the film by setting it against a backdrop of super-saturated Technicolor. She clearly subscribes to the theory that all's fair in love and war, and her two principal leads throw themselves into their respective roles as the hunter and hunted. And just when the story threatens to falter, a sharp plot twist brings it roaring back to life, leaving you guessing at the final outcome.Out to rent or buy on video and DVD

Jeepers Creepers 2 (15)Rating: 3/5 The original Jeepers Creepers film was a genuinely scary tale about three youngsters terrified by a mysterious winged beast during a road trip.It proved a surprise box office hit and spawned this sequel, in which our flesh-eating fiend returns to terrorise a group of teenagers stranded on board a broken-down bus in the middle of nowhere. The surprise element is inevitably diluted, but this serving of second-helpings is still an above average sequel, helped by the fact it's written and directed by Victor Salva, who helmed the original. It features several gen-uinely creepy scenes, particularly early on when the Creeper stalks a young boy through a field of corn and later when it starts picking off its victims from the bus. But the violent climax is a little too cut and dried for my liking, and the filmmakers may be wise to leave well alone after hinting at a third film in the final reel.20th Century Fox Home Entertainment

The Lizzie McGuire Movie (U)Rating: 2/5Fans of the Lizzie McGuire TV series won't be disappointed with her first full-length feature, which sees the teen queen jetting off on a school trip to Rome.Within hours of landing in the Eternal City, she is caught up in a thrilling adventure involving a handsome international pop star named Paulo who sweeps her off her feet. The reason for his unexpected show of affection is that Lizzie, played by Hilary Duff (pictured far left), bears an uncanny resemblance to his long-time singing partner and former girlfriend Isabella. After an acrimonious bust-up, Paulo is desperate to keep up appearances at a major awards show and wants to pass Lizzie off as Isabella. Things don't go strictly according to plan, however, in this undemanding film which is good fun to watch.Out to rent or buy on video and DVD
