EVER thought you’d love to be a voluntary warden in the Lake District National Park but never have the time.
Well, the Lake District National Park Authority could have the answer for you by next summer. The authority is planning to establish a new volunteer service to extend and improve the current system.
Called the Lake District Volunteer Service, it is likely to have a range of membership types such as volunteers who can offer a limited time commitment and voluntary ranger who have more time and would be given specialist training.
Bob Cartwright, corporate operations director, said: “As we put together this new service our aim is to make it inclusive, fun, non-bureaucratic, fulfilling and worthwhile.” A working group will oversee the establishment of the new service - to be launched next May.
