I am looking forward to the completion of the referbishment of County Square, Ulverston and the siting of the Laurel and Hardy Statue.....
The Grand Opening will take place on Sunday 19th April and the statue will be unveiled by Ken Dodd. On Monday 16th March, Harry Knowles and myself laid the slate slabs depicting sayings of the comedy duo. I have to congratulate Jayne Kendall for her commitment to this project and the contractors who throughout the whole referbishment have kept the Town Centre Open for Business...... Thursday 19th March, I was invited to attend the presentations and prize giving for South Cumbria Young Enterprize. Schools in South Cumbria have for the past 9 months set up and run their own companies. The aim of the organisation Young Enterprize is to allow the enterpreneurs of the future to experience at first hand the trials, tribulations and rewards of running a fully functioning company. I was a wonderful evening full of hope and excitement. 12 schools to part in the event, the eventual winner was Maripose the company entered by Casterton School. Their company had produced a mathematical game and were going to market it with a London Toy maker, the runner up was Eclipse the company entered by Chetwynde School, they had produced a Recipe Book.
