Ulverston Rotary is a very active Club and during March I was invited to attend three events.
The first event was their Annual Concert. Held on Saturday 7th March, Derek and I set off for the Coronation Hall, Ulverston where a Band and Choir Concert was due to take place. The band was the Wingates Band and the Choir was K-Shoe Male Voice Choir. It was a wonderful musical evening with the Band playing many light hearted pieces.
On Wednesday 11th March, I was one of the guests invited to the Clubs 73rd Annual Dinner held at The Coot on the Tarn, Urswick. Guest speaker for this event was Shelia Dibnah wife of the late Fred Dibnah. Shelia gave an amusing and descriptive account of how she met Fred and what it was like to live with this dare devil demolisher of chimneys. We had a lovley meal and the company was gread. During the third week in March, Ulverston Rotary were playing host to a delegation of visitors from Malaysia. I had agreed to meet them at Ulverton Town Hall to show them around and to explain our system of Local Government and how it works. After the meeting I took our visitors for a coffee.
