THE RSPB is urging walkers to lace up their boots and take to the nature trails at Leighton Moss in order to beat the winter blues and burn off those Christmas calories.
“By simply taking a regular gentle walk in the countryside, you will find yourself more relaxed and feeling generally fitter, as well as losing some weight into the bargain,” said Jen Walker, visitor officer at the reserve.
Leighton Moss nature reserve in Silverdale has several nature trails available all year round. Keen nature fans can enjoy the display of marsh harriers in the Spring, red deer grazing in the Summer, flocks of starlings in the Autumn and the rare heron-like bittern in the Winter.
Leighton Moss nature reserve is open from 9.30am to 4.30pm throughout January. Membership costs £3 a month for a couple or £5 for a family. For more information call: 01524 701601.
