The Backbarrow Branch of the Royal British Legion always holds its Remembrance Service a week before the Official Day and the service of remembrance is always held in the lovely little Church at Rusland in the Rusland Valley.
Civic Dignitaries and Legion Officials from all over the District are in attendance and Ulverston Town Band provide the music. The Chairman of the District Council reads one of the lessons and wreaths are laid around the font at the back of the Church during the service.
It's a lovely service, full of dignity and charm and afterwards everyone is invited back to the Church Hall for tea.
