The Inner Wheel Club of Ulverston celebrate their 60th Anniversary this year and as Mayor I was invited to their Anniversary Lunch which was held on Tuesday 14th October.
Arriving at The Coot on the Tarn in Urswick, I was met by President of Ulverston Inner Wheel Dorothy Broadley and members. Other guests included District 19 Chairman Mrs. Christine Turner, Rotary President Mr. John Greenwood and Guest Speaker Dr. Brenda Taylor.
Around 120 members and guests sat down for a lovely lunch, followed by greetings and speeches. I gave the response on behalf of the guests and in that speech I not only thanked Inner Wheel for the lunch but for what they do for communities not only hear but abroad as well.
They raise money for all sorts of projects, such as Shoes Boxes, Special Needs Adventure Play Area and away days for Child Carers (children who's daily lives are spent caring for a parent or sibling).
Well done and congratulations to members of Inner Wheel and Best Wishes for the next 60 years.
