Thursday 4th September, 2008 I was invited by Mark Bushel of Stagecoach to attend The Launch of the Laurel and Hardy Bus.
Stagecoach have for a number of years introduced themed buses on some of their bus routes. With this in mind they commissioned an artist to paint pictures depicting Laurel and Hardy on one of their buses. The bus will run on the Ulverston to Barrow route for around 12 to 18 months.
On a very wet Thursday, I went along to the Lantern House near Booths, Ulverston to met with representatives from Stagecoach, Marion Graves and Lou Cubin (representatives from the Laurel and Hardy Museum), Nancy (Stan Laurel's cousin) and the Mayor of Barrow Dave Roberts (who is a huge Stan Laurel fan) to launch the bus.
