A woman arrested following the alleged murder of a Blackpool man will not face any criminal charges.

Greg Chamberlain, 26, died yards from his home after being stabbed in the chest at his house on Preston New Road, in the early hours of Sunday June 15.

A 21-year-old woman was questioned by detectives after being arrested on suspicion of murder before being bailed.

The Crown Prosecution Service today revealed that the woman will not face any charges over the incident.

Detective Superintendent Kevin Toole, from the Force Major Investigation Team who led the investigation, said: "Given the initial circumstances, this incident was originally treated as murder.

“After a thorough and detailed investigation and having assimilated all the facts, a clearer picture has emerged.

“The family of Mr Chamberlain have been informed and are still coming to terms with their devastating loss.

“This was a tragic event and I believe that the long-term affects of that day will stay with both families forever."
