Last Wednesday, Sasha and I went along to the Lakeland radio stadium home of Kendal Town football club. The evening proved to be very exciting. Premier club Sunderland had come all the way to Kendal for a pre season friendly.
Firstly I met Sir Tom Finney, a man my grandfather would have loved to meet. He is the President of Kendal Town, an honour, he is proud to hold he informed me. He tries to get along to Kendal Town home matches whenever he can, when they don’t clash with Preston North End, his former club. An amazing man, still very dedicated to his sport.
The match itself was something else; we were on the edge of our seats all night! The first half was fast pace world class football, with Kendal leading 4 – 2!!!
Unfortunately Sunderland must have had a good talking to during the half time, they came back to win by 9 goals to 4. It was however a really good game to watch and I will most certainly be going back to support Kendal Town again. Go give it a try - I know you will enjoy it.
