On Thursday 3rd July, 2008 I was invited by Duddon and High Furness District Scouts to their AGM.
The group cover a large geographical area from Broughton in Furness to Grange over Sands. This years event was held in the Methodist Church Rooms in Ulverston.
The group have had a very busy year, being involved in the Ulverston Flag Day Celebrations, holding a District Camp at Coniston School, various sleepovers and renewing their Scouting Promise at the top of Hoad Hill by Hoad Monument.
After the formal business in which several members were given their long service awards, Martin Cooper, guest speaker gave a very interesting presentation on the workings of Duddon & Furness Mountain Rescue Team.
The evening ended with a small buffet, I really am going to have to watch my weight.
