Friday 16th May, 2008 I was invited as Mayor by Ulverston Inshore Rescue Fund Raising Committee to their first Ball "Full Length and Fabulous" at the newly refurbished Old Mill, Bardsea. Derek (my husband) and I had a wonderful time, there was a buffet, comedian and dancing. Well done to the organisers, they made over £1,000 profit. The object of the charity is to foster the safety of and maintain an effective rescue service for the assistance of any human being, animal or boat of any nature in peril from the sea in the area of the estuary of the River Leven/Ulverston Channel/South Channel in the county of Cumbria. Since their conception in 2002 the organisation has raised over £100,000 for equipment and have been involved in many of the rescues in the Bay.
