Last Saturday morning, Sasha and I headed off to see Meadow View Nursery next to Queen Katherine School.

As soon as we saw outside, the penny dropped as to why Meadow View, they look onto a lovely little meadow of their own.

In the corner of the meadow is a wonderful vegetable patch and a pond with lots of unusual plants, what a fantastic facility for pre-school children.

We had lots of fun, bouncy castle, face painting holding their rabbit to name but a few. A super facility.

I am sure many of you enjoyed Party in the Park on Sunday, an event put on by St. Thomas’s church. Now in its fifth year.

It is hard to explain the joy and excitement on the children’s faces as they ran around the park ( Nobles rest at the end of Maud Street) Balloons, crafts to make, games to play, Toby my four year old even knocked down all the skittles and won a bar of mint cake, both he and Sasha had a ball. I must Thank St Thomas’ Church on behalf of The Town Council for such a community event, I can’t think of another event in the Town where so many of the Towns young children are invited and celebrated.

Sunday also saw the start of National Carers week, some of you may have heard about it in the news.

I was invited to the Castle Street centre to see the A Capella singers- Five in a bar.

These five ladies are very talented ladies indeed. I have never seen any other A Capella groups before, so when I do in the future they will have a tough act to follow.

I would like to thank all the carers in Kendal this week, I hope they have managed to achieve their goal, creating awareness of their existence to the general public and to Government and letting them have some light relief and fun. They are our unsung heroes dedicating their lives to the care of others often to the detriment of their own lives.

The young Carers invited me along to a presentation at the Brewery Arts , they have attended several workshops over the last six months put on for them by the Brewery Arts; Dance, Music, Drama and Art. They had lots of fun showing us a sample of the sorts of things they got up to, and so did we watching them! They all deserve a medal.

Last night I went along to the Leisure Centre to watch the final production of ‘Wellitivity’ Twenty nine local Primary schools have been involved over the last week, each having practiced at school with one rehearsal at the Leisure Centre on the day to pull them all together before the evening’s production for real.

Last night saw six schools join together to put on the show. It was a joy to see them all, they had so much fun and so professional, you’d have thought they had practiced for months! I believe an event of this type happens every two years, I would highly recommend you look out for the next one.

Finally I am looking forward to the Mayors Parade tomorrow. I would really have liked to make it a greater community event involving lots of our local groups and organisations, but time scales and previous diary dates has prevented many groups coming along. Nether the less there will still be lots of us marching through the Street to the Parish Church around 10.30am, The Sea Cadet band leading us on our way.

You are welcome to come along and join in, let Liz the Town Clerk know you are there and we can add you in.

I hope next year we can move the event from Fathers Day and start the preparations much earlier perhaps in January, so this could be a real diary date for us all to share.
