All my life's a circle we are back in the same motel in Abilene, .Our number have increased tonight, two american chasers are tagging along. We also have another two LADS from England arrived yesterday evening. They too are tagging along until 18 May. They had a good first chase day today. We knew that the storms would develop way down near the Mexican border and drift upwards. So we took our time in Brady waiting until we could see what was coming our way.
We could see clusters of storms heading towards our direction (see photo of radar on comp)and set off to intercept them. The first fell apart before we reached it. However there were plenty behind. One or two of there storms where going to pass just west of us . So we set off . We were not disapointed. They had everything. At one point we were at the crossroads where a tornado was forcast to pass through. We saw it trying to wind up and we stood in or around our van. I forgot the rules and didn't look where I was standing and plonked myself on a fire ants nest. Fortunately some one noticed them going up my leg. I Had to run
Although we nearly got a close first hand view as one started to form just south of us. As we watched it started to draw air in and the wind speed increased rapidly to a point were i was worried that van would ovrturn. Then it actually started to pull in the rain and we had to move. We lost sight of that chance. We then kept one step ahead and went through a few towns where their tornado sirens were blaring away, although we didn't see any ot the reported tornadoes. The storm structure was amazing and the CGs (lighting bolts) close, one hit 20mtrs away. We eventually gave uo being chased and parked up in Brady (again) and let the storm ride over us. We then decided that the chance of seeing anything for the next few days was slim and so we would set off to our next target area South Dakota/Nebraska.
