Over recent weeks I have discovered the absolute delight of using a one-wheeled trailer behind my bike. The trailer has a splendid capacity for a good shopping trip topping up with essential needs. I am mystified why more folk don’t use such trailers!
They have a wonderful advantage of being able to be parked right next to chosen shops so one can be in and out of town in a jiffy! Well done the local council committee for making permanent the cycle-contra-flow arrangement down the high street in Kendal. A very progressive and futuristic decision methinks!
I would love to see more evidence of local councils going green much faster and setting the agenda for other councils to follow. It would be, for example, ‘Hurrah mark 2’if they adopted a quantum-leap approach to grass care around the town. Some time ago I passed a ‘flock’ of workmen armed with a vast collection of noisy strimmers and blowers attacking the grass on the Shap road. How about a new trend moving towards such maintenance by less regular cutting and employing Austrian scythes and locally made besoms for sweeping up.
Big Carbon footprint gain potential! What kudos they’d get!
