AAAAARRRGGGHHH! How much longer to the start of the new football season?!!
My calendar says 78 days which doesn’t seem too long but it is too long.
I was listening to my Everton CD on the way in today slipping into my football dream world and reliving the glory days of the football season.
How I wish I was going to watch Everton tomorrow!
Instead I will probably be doing something much less interesting – but on the positive side I won’t be depressed like after a defeat.
IT seems my United supporting colleague is quite rightly upset at the increased ticket prices – but I suppose the owners will justify the ticket prices with the purchase of three untested Premiership players for £50 million. If football is not careful I think supporters who are priced out will go back to watch their local side, which in the end may not be a bad thing.
Maybe the era of rich men taking over Premiership clubs will come to an undignified end some time soon when they fall out of love with the game and fans fall out of love with them.
I’m quite happy with Everton remaining in English hands and building from a solid foundation.
THE England match tonight will all be about the return of Beckham. I was one who didn’t think he should have been axed from the squad – but it is a very bizarre set of circumstances. In all likeliness Beckham will perform well against a weak side so it will be hard for McClaren to drop him. But his commitments in America will hamper his ability to turn out for the national side. If McClaren does want Beckham back in the squad on a regular basis it wouldn’t surprise me if an agreement was reached whereby he would be loaned out for the season to a European side thus allowing him to feature for England until the Euro 2008 tournament. Maybe he will be regretting his switch to America but one things for sure I expect him to turn in a good performance tonight.
