AFTER another rollercoaster ride of a season I think I’m ready for a short break from footy – not least because I’ve run out of money to watch matches!
The end of the season is a time for reflection – when all those mistakes are forgotten and the fans and players alike get together to congratulate each other.
It’s also time for awards and so I’m going to pick out a few people who deserve praise this season.
Player of the Season
Cristiano Ronaldo.
Manager of the Season
Alan Curbishley.
Goal of the Season
Drogba v Everton just before Christmas.
Save of the Season
Jens Lehmann at Old Trafford when he tipped a Solskjaer effort wide.
Team of the Season
Reading.
Most irate person of the season
Finger-pointing Paul Jewell.
Most sour grapes
Neil Warnock after Sheffield United were relegated.
Funniest moment of the season
At Ewood Park when the PA system said: “Would Mike Shields please contact his nearest steward.”
Surprising Stat of the Season
Peter Crouch has the best shooting accuracy.
Least surprising stat of the season
Liverpool have conceded the least penalties and had no red cards.
