This is the part of the season where everything comes to a head. Promotion, relegation, European places, cup finals, play off's etc. Superb!
The Premiership title is already won by Man Utd as we all know. I feel they've been worthy winners, having played good, attacking football for most of the year. I've no feelings for United at all, but I'm so glad for football in general that Chelsea didn't win. We're in danger of becoming like the Scottish Premier with the same team winning year in year out, so for the blues to slip up is nice! There's a battle on for the UEFA cup slots. Everton look as good as there and I hope Spurs and Blackburn join them. It would be wrong for Reading to qualify when Steve Coppell has openly admitted to not wanting to be in it. What's the point of being in the Premiership if you don't want to aim as high as possible?
At the bottom, I think we'll lose Wigan. No great shakes, they've punched above their weight for two years now. However, it will open up a can of worms with the West Ham Tevez saga. Could be an interesting summer of court cases and lawyers!!
As for the play off's, I'm going for Southampton, Blackpool and MK Dons to win their respective divisions. People have different opinions about the end of season knock outs, but overall they are great for football. It keeps the season alive for so many teams and the tension and excitement of the games are special.
Anyway, with Preston's season over, I'll sit back and enjoy the remaining games. As I get married on June 2nd, PNE will be out of my mind for a couple of weeks and then the rollercoaster ride starts all over again. What will I expect? A couple of signings, the sale of Nugent, pre-season, early exit from the League Cup to a lower league side, poor league start, decent FA Cup run, good finish to the season and then..................... the usual haertbreak! Who'd be a football fan?!?!
