The Lantern Festival in Ulverston has picked up an award for 'making a difference in the community'.
As part of Lancashire Day last week, the Lancastrian Awards for 2024 were announced on Wednesday, November 27.
This saw a number of people and events across the region receive recognition for holding the true values of this part of the country.

The Friends of Real Lancashire (FRL), who organised the awards, said: "This remarkable event exemplifies community spirit and volunteerism with locals of all ages coming together to create the lanterns and organise the festivities.
"From children to adults, everyone plays a role in making this event a success."
Returning in September earlier this year, the Lantern Festival followed the theme of 'Story Time' which saw participants bring their favourite fictional characters to life.
The festival has grown into a beloved annual tradition, bringing together the entire community in a celebration of 'creativity and light'.
Originating in the 1980s, the event features hand-made lanterns, which are paraded through the town, 'transforming the streets into a magical display of art'.

The FRL added: "The Lantern Festival not only fosters a deep sense of pride and unity within Ulverston, but it also attracts visitors from far and wide, enhancing the town's cultural vibrancy and making it a shining example of community collaboration.
"[Their] creativity, community spirit, and dedication to celebrating the arts make them a shining example of what makes Lancashire special."

The award is just the latest success for the festival, which celebrated its best donations in a decade after the 2024 edition.
The event organisers revealed in October that, thanks to the support of the local community, a total of £3,367 was raised through both online and on-the-day donations.
Whilst the organisers will be celebrating this recent recognition, attention has already turned to the event's return in 2025, with the date of Saturday, September 20 recently confirmed.
