A DRINK driver has been banned after he was caught more than twice the legal alcohol limit in Kendal.
David Beaumont, of Mary Fell, Sedbergh, was stopped by road traffic officers on October 27 this year when driving his Ford Transit on Windermere Road.
The 62-year-old was asked to conduct a roadside breathalyser test as police had reason to believe he had been driving illegally.
He was arrested after providing a positive reading taken to Kendal Police Station where he provided another reading.
Court records show the lowest reading was 87 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
Enquiries also revealed Beaumont had also been driving without a valid license.
The defendant pleading guilty at the first opportunity to drink driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and failing to surrender to police/court bail at an appointed time.
Magistrates disqualified the defendant from driving for 22 months and fined him £160.
He was also ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a £64 surcharge.
