Two athletes have taken the top spots in the national rankings for 2024.

With the snowsports season coming to a close, Josh Wright and Alice Sanderson - both members of Kendal Snowsports Club - were named as the best male and female in freestyle skiing.

Josh also received a letter from Team GB as one of three athletes put forward for selection for the European Youth Olympics in 2025 which acted as recognition for the success he has tasted over the past 12 months.

This has coincided with the club having seven people included in the Snowsport England squad which gives them the opportunity to train with coaches in the UK and abroad and serves as the pathway to Team GB.

In the ‘B’ squad are Alice, Fergus Allen, Dan Louden, Fifi Turner and Cameron Field, who have all been taking UK podiums over the season.

Alice took gold at the Freestyle World Rookie Tour, winning an all-expenses-paid trip to compete in the finals in Italy, whilst 14-year-old Fifi claimed silver at the SSE Futures Championships held in Norfolk, ending her season ranked as the number one Under-16 female.

Joining Josh in the top national rankings was Fergus - an Alpine and Park and Pipe instructor - who finished as the third best male overall.

Kendal Snowsports Club has a rich history in terms of freestyle events, having been running training sessions since the Nineties when 'snowboarding first became popular'.

With freestyle skiing also emerging alongside this, the club hosts two sessions every week on Thursdays and Sundays between 6pm and 8pm.

It is now hoped that, following this latest batch of success, more people than ever will be tempted to try out something new and visit the club.
