Thousands of people across Cumbria have woken up this morning to find that they had been covered in a blanket of snow.

The storm is expected to bring heavy snow throughout the morning before turning into rain this afternoon.

There is an amber weather warning for snow in place as it becomes particularly heavy in some regions of the country.
