MORE than 300 business leaders and delegates have signed up for a Cumbria Economic Summit, with others being encouraged to sign up. 

The full-day event, organised by Enterprising Cumbria with support from Cumberland Council and Westmorland & Furness Council, will take place on Tuesday, December 3 at the Keswick Pencil Museum.

David Beeby, chair of Cumbria's new Economic Growth Board, said: "Join us for Enterprising Cumbria's first major event, a countywide Economic Summit.

"These are exciting, and challenging, times for Cumbria with very significant investment coming to our area and opportunities to take strides forward on our economic performance, to the benefit of all communities, businesses and residents."

Leader of Cumberland Council, cllr Mark Fryer, said: "It is important that our strategic partners and stakeholders get the opportunity to input into the final Cumbria Economic Strategy.

"Their opinions matter and we need their knowledge and expertise to drive forward inclusive growth in our region."

The event will run from 9.30am to 4.30pm and will include a series of facilitated breakout sessions.
