A pub in Sedbergh has been named among the best in the UK for Sunday roasts.
The Black Bull Inn was included in the Good Food Guide's list of the Top 50 Best Sunday Roasts 2024.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, November 20 after 18,000 public nominations from across the UK.
James Ratcliffe, co-owner of Sedbergh's Black Bull, said: "All of us are excited about being listed in the Good Food Guide’s UK Top 50 Sunday Roasts list.
"We’ve worked hard to pull together a menu that showcases the region’s very best produce, much of it sourced from within 10 miles of our kitchen door, including the likes of Roasted Howgill Herdwick, Mansergh Hall Outdoor Reared Pork, White Galloway Beef Rump, and Howgill Hereford Roast Beef.
"We use produce from small farms operated by people we know and trust, and who, like us, care about what they produce.
"This care and attention to detail shines through in the quality of the produce our team of chefs has access to, and that’s one of the reasons our Sunday lunch is a roaring success."
The Good Food Guide was first compiled in 1951 by Raymond Postgate.
Now fully digital, the guide features 1,200 restaurants, pubs, cafes, and wine bars across Britain.
Reviews are carried out anonymously by a network of inspectors, and all meals are paid for in full.
The thousands of nominations received highlight the roast's place in British culture, with 75 per cent of Good Food Guide readers stating a roast is the country's most famous dish.
The guide also provided insight into the nation's Sunday roast habits, revealing that half of the readers eat a roast on another day of the week other than Sunday, with 79 per cent enjoying a Sunday roast all year round.
Roast beef was the most popular choice of meat, followed by lamb.
Roast potatoes were the nation's favourite side dish, with cauliflower cheese coming in second, both surpassing the Yorkshire pudding.
