Wild campers who ventured out onto the Lake District fells despite the freezing cold weather predictions drew the attention of mountain rescuers.
Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was contacted by Cumbria Police who were concerned for welfare of two men wild camping on the Coniston Fells.
The men had made their way to Buck Pike on Monday November 18.
The alarm was raised by a family member and the rescue team was contacted at 9:21pm.
Given the weather forecast, which suggested snowfall, and the fact that conditions were potentially likely to deteriorate, the team was put on standby.
After a number of attempts, the team leader was able to contact the pair on the hill who were found to be in good spirits and not in need of any assistance.
They were advised to re-contact via the usual channels should the situation change and the team stood down.
Incident number 66 of 2024 involved nine volunteer members, with more available at home, and concluded in 35 minutes.
