The Beach Hut Gallery, based at Kents Bank railway station, is looking to add a 'touch of seasonal cheer' to its new exhibition on Saturday, December 14.

As well as the food and drink offerings, the station library/bookshop will have a mini Santa train operating to entertain visitors.

The railway station gallery operates as a non-profit and is entirely staffed by volunteers (Image: Supplied) The exhibition, which continues to the end of the year, is showcasing the work of several artists based in the South Lakes.

Dr Paul Salveson, manager of the gallery and adjoining station library bookshop, said: "We’re delighted to be hosting work by artists including Sally Toms, Christine Baines, Steve Trevillion, and Fionn Jordan Tatlock.

"They’re all very different but they share the fact that they’re very much of the area and are high quality.

"As you'd expect from a gallery on a station, the work is really first class."

The gallery opens every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm (Image: Supplied) Fran Brown, a director of the co-operative which runs the gallery, said: "There’s the vibrant ceramics of Sally Toms, intriguing collages by Steve Trevillion, superb landscape scenes by Chris Baines, and highly intricate drawings by Fionn Jordan."

As well as the current exhibition, the gallery has artwork by Martin Copley, Fran Brown, John Hatton, Steve Fairhurst, and Ben McLeod.

The gallery opens every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm.

It operates as a non-profit and is entirely staffed by volunteers.

"We think we’re offering something really special and we want to build our support in the community.

In the new year we are hoping to develop a small cafe facility with improved toilet facilities, if we can get the necessary funding.”
