ULVERSTON'S iconic Stan and Ollie statue has been given a spruce up in time for a major festival.
The statue, outside the Coronation Hall, was cleaned ahead of the Dickensian Festival taking place this weekend.
The clean will keep the memorial to the famous double act in top condition and protect it from the winter elements.
Ulverston Town Council said: "Stan and Ollie had their second clean of the year today, so they will be looking very dapper for the Dickensian Festival this weekend!
"We arrange a specialist cleaner to clean the statue twice a year. The first stage of the clean is a bath!
"They get shampooed and dried off, then a special wax is applied all over using a soft brush.
"The wax is then heated to make a seal, which protects the statue against the elements for the winter season."
Stalls and entertainment will come to Ulverston for the 25th Dickensian Festival on Saturday and Sunday.
