A man has been arrested in Kendal after he was caught 'hurling profanities and abuse at passers-by'.

The incident was said to have happened in the early hours of Saturday morning (November 16), with the South Lakes Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) sharing the update.

The 21-year-old male was arrested by the NPT's night time economy officers for 'being drunk and disorderly in a public place'.

A spokesperson added: "Blue skies appearing over Kendal this morning with Unit Three on patrol across the district. As always we also have roads policing, firearms support, NPT and CID all ready to work through any incidents last night and arising today.

"We want everyone who makes use of the night time economy to enjoy themselves, but finding yourself in a situation in which you are hurling profanities and abuse at passers by having consumed too much alcohol is not excusable."
