The council is aiming to update users on the Windermere Ferry ferry service after it had to be suspended yesterday (Thursday, November 14) due to a mechanical fault.
Westmorland and Furness Council announced on its Facebook page this afternoon (November 15) that it had to temporarily suspend the ferry for safety of passengers and crew.
An initial inspection revealed a fault with one of the drive wheels that will require a bespoke repair before service can resume.
A council spokesperson said: "Further inspections have been conducted today and we aim to provide an update on Monday 18 November with an estimated repair timeline.
"Following an initial discussion with the manufacturer, we anticipate Mallard to be out of service until at least Thursday 21 November.
"We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause and kindly ask for our users to follow the signed diversion that is in place."
