A salon is celebrating its 30th year in business.

Debonair Hairdressing Salon on Wildman Street first opened its doors in 1994 and has been a popular name in the area ever since.

Owner Debbie, who started on the YTS training scheme before qualifying and opening her own salon, said: "When I first started, I never could have imagined we'd still be going strong 30 years later.

"It's been an incredible journey."

The salon has faced many challenges over the years, including being hit by Storm Desmond in 2015, which left it filled with more than five feet of water.

While repairs were carried out, Kendal College hosted the salon, allowing the staff to continue working.

Debonair is partnered with Kendal College as an apprenticeship provider and regularly competes in national competitions.

This summer, the salon reached the finals of the L’Oreal Colour Trophy in London.

Debbie said: "I’m really proud to be employing and working alongside such a talented team of dedicated stylists, building lasting relationships with countless loyal clients, providing apprenticeship opportunities and training for young stylists, helping to launch their careers in the industry.

"We’ve overcome some huge challenges over the years and emerged stronger than ever."
