A POLICE officer will face a misconduct hearing over allegations of 'pursuing an improper relationship'.
PC Mark McKirdy is accused of taking advantage of his position as a constable within Cumbria Police to pursue 'a sexual or improper emotional relationship' between July and November 2022.
He is also alleged to have sent 'highly inappropriate and disrespectful' Facebook messages about a member of the public to a colleague on November 9, 2022.
If proven, the messages have reportedly breached standards of professional behaviour relating to authority, respect and courtesy, and discreditable conduct.
The actions are said to be so serious that they could "justify dismissal" if proven and are considered as potential gross misconduct.
PC McKirdy will attend a hearing on Tuesday November 26, at Cumbria Police HQ in Penrith at 8.30am.
