A new milk vending machine has been installed at the SPAR Milnthorpe store.

The Ann Forshaw's Milk Shed has been installed at the store and will see the machine dispensing pasteurised and non-homogenised milk as well as flavoured milkshakes.

The milkshakes are made using natural flavourings and do not contain any of the ‘Southampton Six’ food colours which have been found to have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children.

The vending machine is open 24 hours a day.

Fiona Drummond, company stores director at James Hall and Co, who owns SPAR Milnthorpe, said: "This is the first Milk Shed to launch at one of our forecourt sites, and we are thrilled to bring our Milk Shed offer to Milnthorpe which we believe will be a real asset for the community.

"It is such a simple but effective concept.

"Our high-quality fresh milk is very competitively priced, and the milkshakes are delicious treat and suitable for all ages with the conscious decision to utilise natural flavourings."

This is the third Ann Forshaw's Milk Shed to launch.

The first was installed at Alston Dairy in Longridge and the second at SPAR Padiham Road in Burnley.

The milk and milkshakes are dispensed in 500ml or one litre servings.

Prices range from £1.80 to £2.80.

Customers can buy a reusable glass bottle from the vending machine at £1.80 for a 500ml bottle or £2.20 for a one litre bottle.

The purchase of a reusable bottle means customers can make plastic free purchases.

Recyclable cardboard cups and paper straws are also available.
