A charity is opening a pop-up pet shop to help raise funds for new kennels for rescued dogs.
Eden Animal Rescue has already raised £121,000 towards the £500,000 needed to build a new kennel block.
To raise additional funds, the charity will host a pop-up pet shop at Langwathby Village Hall on Saturday, November 16, from 10.30am to 3pm.
The shop will sell a wide variety of brand-new pet items, treats, and pre-loved animal items.
Shoppers will also be able to buy gifts, bric-a-brac, books, cards, cakes, and home produce.
There will be a tombola stall, a children’s lucky dip, and games, with light refreshments on offer.
Money raised will go towards the Eden Animal Rescue Kennel Project, which aims to improve facilities for the welfare of the dogs that stay at the charity’s centre at Moorlands Head Farm in Temple Sowerby.
Eden Animal Rescue chairman, Chris Cheetham, said: "The pop-up shop will provide pet owners with the ideal opportunity to buy their pets the ideal Christmas present, as well as other items – and help raise funds for less fortunate dogs."
The new kennel block will consist of 20 individual kennels.
Mr Cheetham added: "The new kennel block, together with essential associated works to improve the Eden Animal Rescue site is costing in the region of £1.6 million.
"This is substantially more than originally envisaged due to a number of issues.
"These include a long delay in receiving planning permission and additional conditions.
"There has also been significant inflation in the cost of building materials and essential alterations to the electricity supply onsite.
"However, we are determined to raise the funds with the support of our supporters and the public."
