A popular fish and chip shop has been named as a finalist in a national award.
FryDays, in Kendal, has been recognised as a finalist in the 2024 Peter Hill Award.
The award, launched last year by Middleton Foods in memory of their late CEO, Peter Hill, celebrates excellence in the fish and chip industry.
Ryan Baker, sales manager at Middleton Foods, said: "Huge congratulations to FryDays on being recognised as one of this year's finalists!
"We launched The Peter Hill Award last year in memory of our great friend and CEO, Peter Hill and following its tremendous success, we decided to bring it back – even bigger than before.
"We have received a fantastic number of entries, and we are delighted to continue recognising more newcomers to the industry, encourage new talent, promote quality and excellence and give something back to the trade."
Ross Fawcett, FryDays owner, said: "We are over the moon to be finalists of The Peter Hill Award 2024!
"Massive thank you to all our customers and our amazing staff as well as Colbecks, Middleton Foods, Greenwoods Fish Merchant, David Willian Quality Fresh Foods and Hargreaves & Bulman for the excellent quality of products you supply."
The winner and runners-up of The Peter Hill Award 2024 will be revealed by the end of November, following the end of the next judging stage, a visit from Nikki Williams, field sales manager at KFE.
The winner will receive a set of prizes worth more than £15,000, including £1,000 worth of Middleton Foods stock, design of their own bespoke batter mix, places at the KFE School of Frying Excellence and more.
Each of the runners-up will win two places at the KFE School of Frying Excellence and £300 worth of Middleton Foods stock.
