The opening parade will depart under the arch at Abbot Hall Park on the Thursday from 5:45pm behind Drum Nation and stilt walkers before arriving at Market Place around 6:30 pm.
The Christmas Lights Switch on Countdown Stage will then open when the parade arrives.
Children can meet Santa, have creative fun with Ragtag and enjoy a free ride on the teacups from 6pm until 8pm.
Organisers have advised members of the public to access Finkle Street for refreshments due to Market Place having no stalls this year to ensure everyone who joins the parade can enter.
This year’s mountain festival is set to be the largest ever with over 300 speakers, more than 190 films and over 60 activities.
