Seckou Keita is scheduled to perform in Kendal as part of his UK tour.

The Senegalese kora musician will bring his new album, Homeland (Chapter 1), to audiences at the Brewery Arts Centre on November 6.

Mr Keita, explaining the inspiration for the album, said: "Since the events of 2020, my mind and heart have been actively seeking the answers to so many questions in relation to my UK adopted home and my Senegalese native one.

"Two lands, two homes, and all the places I regularly visit in between; each place embracing family, friends, music and stories."

The inspiration for the album dates back to 2017 when Mr Keita launched a series of Pan-African collaborations, including one track with Senegalese icon Baaba Maal.

Produced by Youssou N'Dour, the album features contributions from Abdoulaye Sidibé, Hannah Lowe, Zena Edwards and Daara J Family.

It's a blend of acoustic and electronic music, traditional rhythms, and urban beats.
